I took the unique opportunity to visit with Dr. Stephen Lundin, author of Fish!, Cats, and Loops, among other books. What an incredible person he is, with a gift of sharing complex subjects in simple terms that are easy to implement.
For instance, in FISH!, he promoted Pike Place Fish in Seattle, one of many Seattle fish markets, with a distinct flair for customer service and fun. They sell the same fish as the other markets in the neighborhood, yet sell much greater volume due to their business principles. Dr. Lundin's book about the market's four business principles became a Wall Street Journal bestseller and continues robust sales.
The story of the book's evolution is even more amazing. Dr. Lundin was in Seattle to film a documentary when one of the filmmakers found Pike Place Fish. The filmmakers recognized the amazing market and asked Pike Place Fish if they could film the lively activities there.
Here's the interesting part: the fish market said, "Yes! We have been waiting for someone to come by to film us!" The fish market put their film request 'out there' and waited for it to be answered. The Law of Attraction brought all the right people together.
Here's another interesting side story: Dr. Lundin noted that a vegetable market stood directly across from Pike Place Fish. The vegetable market complained about the crowds from the attraction of the fish market and eventually went out of business. Can you image what would happen if the vegetable market had given thanks for the crowds and started promoting their wares?
